Capacity Building
“Provide nonprofits, municipalities and agencies through a consecutive series of workshops, the skills to submit electronic project proposals, in support of the implementation of the Disaster and Economic Recovery Plan for PR. Proposals may be considered for investment support by private foundations and federal agencies participating in the economic recovery efforts, particularly the EDA.”
As recovery efforts began, the Economic RSF observed the potential for a significant bottleneck to occur when recovery funds started to flow to the Island due to the inexperience of municipal governments, educational institutions, and local non-profits in working with federal government agencies and grant makers from the contiguous U.S. To ensure a robust ecosystem including organizations serving a diverse set of communities and needs, the Economic RSF launched a strategy to quickly build expertise within the municipalities and the nonprofit sector to deliver training and capacity building services that foster new eligible applicants and increase grant making opportunities in Puerto Rico.
